Child safety standards

Waypoint prohibits child sexual abuse and exploitation of any kind, everywhere on the service — photos, videos and stories, Contrail posts and comments, profiles and profile pictures, every chat, events, airline pages and websites, Skydle maps, support tickets and anything else a user can post or send. In particular, it is prohibited to:

• post, share, request or link to child sexual abuse material (CSAM) — any sexual depiction of a minor, including drawn, edited or AI-generated material;
• sexualise minors in words or images, or post sexual content involving someone who appears to be a minor;
• groom a minor: build contact with a minor for a sexual purpose, ask a minor for sexual images or conversation, or try to move a minor to another app or a meeting for that purpose;
• blackmail anyone with intimate images (sextortion), or promote the sexual exploitation or trafficking of children;
• share instructions or material that helps someone abuse children.

Waypoint is for people aged 16 and over. If you are 13, 14 or 15, you may use Waypoint and create an account only with the consent of a parent or guardian. Children under 13 may not use Waypoint, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from them; if we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13, we delete it. Contrail, the photo and video feed with public profiles, is only for people aged 16 or older — 13- to 15-year-olds may not post or keep a Contrail profile, even with a parent's consent. In the pilot chat, event chats and crew-centre chats, a filter stops messages with predatory phrases, severe slurs or links to other websites before they are sent.

You can report child sexual abuse or exploitation in the app and on the website, with or without an account:

• with the Report button where the content appears — photos, crew-centre chat messages, Contrail profiles, posts and comments, events, the pilot chat, Skydle maps, and "Report content" in the footer of airline websites we host;
• on the report page (waypoint-live.app/report, linked as "Report" in the footer of the map and "Report content" at the bottom of other pages), for any content: choose the kind of content, give its address, choose "Child sexual abuse or exploitation (CSAE/CSAM)" as the reason;
• by e-mail to our child safety contact, [email protected], with the subject "Child safety" and the exact address of the content or the account.

Please don't download, screenshot or forward abuse material, not even to us — the address is enough. If a child is in immediate danger, call your local emergency number or the police first. You can also report CSAM directly to the NCMEC CyberTipline (report.cybertip.org) or to a national hotline of the INHOPE network (inhope.org).

• Every report is reviewed by a person; reports about child safety are handled before anything else.
• When we learn of CSAM or other CSAE content, we remove it or make it inaccessible without delay.
• We permanently ban the accounts involved from Waypoint, including their linked logins, and remove their content.
• We report CSAM and suspected abuse to the competent law enforcement authorities — in Germany the police or the Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) — and, where required, to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). Where information suggests a threat to a child's life or safety, we inform the authorities promptly, as Art. 18 of the EU Digital Services Act requires.
• We keep evidence only as far as the law requires or allows for such a report, and cooperate with lawful requests from law enforcement.
• We tell the person who reported what we decided, unless doing so would put a child at risk or hinder an investigation.

Waypoint complies with the child-safety laws that apply to it, including the German Criminal Code (in particular §§ 176 to 176e and 184b StGB), the German Interstate Treaty on the Protection of Minors in the Media (JMStV), the EU Digital Services Act and the GDPR, and — for users in the United States — the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
