Terms of use

You must be at least 16 years old. Younger pilots may use Waypoint only with a parent's or guardian's consent. One account per person; you sign in with Discord, Google, Apple or Infinite Flight and are responsible for what happens under that login.

Waypoint is not affiliated with Infinite Flight or Flying Development Studio. Flight data comes from Infinite Flight's public API and stays subject to their rules; your Infinite Flight account stays subject to their terms.

Photos, videos, captions, comments, chat messages, profiles, flight reports and the content of virtual-airline pages stay yours. You confirm that you took or made what you post, or hold the rights to it, and that it shows nothing you may not publish — no other people's personal information, no third-party photographs, no material you copied from elsewhere.

So that Waypoint can show it, you grant Waypoint a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, resize, display and distribute your content within the service — the map, Contrail, the photo galleries, crew centres, hosted airline websites — and to post it to the Discord channels an airline has connected. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies that already left the service (a Discord post, a screenshot) and for anonymised flight statistics of an airline.

Please don't:

• harass, threaten, insult or discriminate against anyone, or post hateful, sexual, violent or otherwise inappropriate content;
• impersonate another person, airline or organisation, or post other people's data;
• post content you don't have the rights to, including real-world photographs you didn't take;
• cheat: file flights you didn't fly, manipulate points, ratings or leaderboards, or use several accounts to do so;
• attack the service: scrape it, hammer its APIs, probe for weaknesses, or automate actions the interface doesn't offer;
• use Waypoint to spam, advertise unrelated things, or send mails to people who did not confirm they want them.

Staff of a virtual airline are responsible for how their airline treats its members and for what they publish in its name.

Airlines on Waypoint are run by their own staff, who set their own rules within these terms. Points, VAD, coins, ranks, badges and everything else Waypoint counts are game elements: they have no monetary value, cannot be bought, sold or paid out, and may be reset when a feature changes or an airline closes. Waypoint may suspend an airline that breaks these terms or the hosting rules.

Waypoint is free and provided as it is. It is a hobby project: features change, servers have bad days, and data from third parties (Infinite Flight, weather services, ADS-B) can be wrong or late. We don't promise availability, accuracy or that anything stays the way it is. You can export your data at any time from your account settings.

Waypoint is liable only for intent and gross negligence, and — where a duty essential to the service is breached — for foreseeable, typical damage; liability for injury to life, body or health and under mandatory law is unaffected. Nothing here limits rights that consumer law in your country grants you.

Anyone can report a post, comment, story, photo, profile, chat message or airline page — with the report button next to it, or by mail to the address in the Impressum. Tell us what and why; a link and a sentence are enough.

What happens next: you get an acknowledgement right away, staff review the report — usually within 24 hours — and you learn the outcome in your notifications (or by mail if you reported by mail). Reports are decided by people, not by an algorithm; a word filter only blocks the crudest insults in chat before they are sent.

If content is removed or an account restricted, its owner is told what was decided and why, with the rule it broke, in their notifications. Possible measures: removing the content, hiding a profile, switching off a feature for an account, suspending an account or an airline for a time, and — for repeated or serious violations — for good. Clearly illegal content may be reported to the authorities.

If you think a decision was wrong — a removal, a restriction, or a report of yours that was dismissed — you can contest it within six months: reply in the Waypoint Discord or write to the address in the Impressum, quoting what was decided. Someone who was not involved in the first decision looks at it again and answers you. We don't charge for this and we don't hold it against you.

You can leave at any time by deleting your account in the settings; that removes your data as described in the privacy policy. Waypoint may close accounts that break these terms, and may change or discontinue the service — with notice where possible.

German law applies, excluding its conflict-of-law rules; if you are a consumer, the mandatory protections of the country you live in stay with you. The English text of these terms is the one that governs. We may update these terms when the service changes; the date at the top tells you when. Continuing to use Waypoint after an update means you accept the new version.
