Waypoint is not affiliated with Infinite Flight; "Infinite Flight" is a trademark of its owners. Live data is never stored (only shown), following Infinite Flight's API terms.

From zoom 14 the satellite view shows government aerial imagery where a public authority publishes it openly: Germany (all 16 states), Switzerland, Austria, France and the Netherlands. The same imagery makes the Skydle pictures of airports in these countries sharper. The tiles reach you through Waypoint's own server; they are cropped to each source's area, their empty parts made transparent and re-encoded — hence "Daten geändert" (data modified) in the credits that ask for it. The map names the sources on screen and links each licence text; each Skydle picture and share card carries the credit of the imagery in it with the licence name, and Skydle's Discord posts add the licence links and a link to this page. A picture made only from aerial imagery stays under that imagery's licence; one that also contains Sentinel-2 cloudless pixels is shared under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.

Aircraft owners: ask us not to identify your aircraftADS-B is an unencrypted radio broadcast and anyone with a receiver can hear it, but that does not mean your aeroplane has to carry your name on our map. Write to [email protected] with the registration and, if you know it, the ICAO 24-bit address (hex code). Say "aircraft privacy request" and nothing else — we ask for no proof of ownership, because the worst that can happen if someone asks for an aircraft that is not theirs is one aeroplane fewer with a name on it.From then on the aircraft still appears on the map as an anonymous dot — position, heading, altitude and speed, which is what makes the picture useful and identifies nobody — but with no registration, no callsign, no operator, no aircraft type, no photos, no trail, no history, and no take-off or landing alerts. We stop looking it up anywhere. You do not need an account, and you can ask us to undo it the same way.Take-off and landing alerts are a separate matter and already narrower: they exist only for identified commercial flights, never for privately operated aircraft, whether or not they are on that list. Waypoint is built with Next.js, React, MapLibre, three.js, sharp, Leaflet and many other open-source packages. The full list — every package the site, server and apps ship, with its version and licence — is on Open-source licences.

OpenStreetMap and adsb.lol publish their data under the Open Database License 1.0. What you see on screen from it — a gate popup, a map layer, a Route Builder result — is a "Produced Work", and carries a notice naming the source next to it (ODbL §4.3). The databases Waypoint builds from that data are "Derivative Databases": because they are used publicly, they are licensed under ODbL 1.0 as well (§4.4), and anyone who uses what they produce can have a machine-readable copy of the whole database, free of charge (§4.6).

To get a copy of the observed gate use or the real-route observations, write to the contact address in the Impressum and name the database. You receive the complete current file as machine-readable (gzip-compressed) JSON, free of charge, under ODbL 1.0 — which lets you use and share it, provided you credit the sources and keep any database you derive from it under the same licence.

Photos, videos and profiles on Contrail, in the galleries and on airline pages belong to the pilots who posted them, under the licence in the terms of use. The names, logos and liveries of virtual airlines on Waypoint identify virtual airlines in Infinite Flight, not real carriers. Logos of real airlines appear only next to real-world flights, to show which airline operates them; they come from the community collection airlines-logos-dataset (MIT licence for the collection). The logos are trademarks of their airlines, and Waypoint is not affiliated with any of them. A rights holder who wants a logo removed can use the report page or the address in the Impressum.
